Missouri is one of the five remaining states that has not “Raised the Age” of adult court jurisdiction to 18. Currently, all 17 year olds in the Show Me State are tried as adults, regardless of the offense. Legislation in both chambers, HB 1255 and SB 793, was reintroduced this month. The bills aim to keep 17 year olds in the juvenile system, where they will face more accountability for their actions and be given more support for their rehabilitation.
