Congress is closer than we've been in a decade to passing the long-overdue reauthorization of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA). The JJDPA is the nation’s main federal law that sets national standards for the custody and care of young people in state juvenile justice systems, and helps states improve and modernize their approaches so they are fairer and more effective. We need this reauthorization to help states promote alternatives to incarceration, enact trauma-informed and evidence-based practices, improve access to education for incarcerated youth, and decrease racial and ethnic disparities.
Please take a moment to urge your Members of Congress to get this done and fully funded.
